MALMERENDAS BOUTIQUE LODGING

The Building

The Malmerendas Boutique Lodging is born in a house from the end of the XIX century, traditional construction of the Portuense bourgeoisie, in the center of the city of Porto.

In the entrance hall is a copy of the building permit (provided by the Municipal Archive of the Câmara Municipal do Porto), issued in 1888 in favor of Francisco Pereira Passos.

Already at the beginning of the 20th century, Bernardino Luís Machado Guimarães (1851-1944), an illustrious professor at the University of Coimbra, elected 3rd and 8th President of the 1st Portuguese Republic, who used it during his stays in Porto. It is said that his funeral left this house towards Vila Nova de Famalicão, home of the family.

Fully restored in 2015, this house was thoughtfully designed to welcome those seeking a unique lodging experience.
